Sereno, California is a small community that consists of 1.5 miles and a population
of almost 4,000 people. It is nestled near the Santa Cruz Mountains on the slope
of El Sereno Mountain (elevation 2249 ft.) 10 miles from  San
Jose. Adjacent to the city of Monte Sereno are the cities and towns of Los Gatos
and Saratoga. It is a high-end bedroom community for many Silicon Valley executives

Information
To keep its rural charm, Monte Sereno was incorporated in 1957. The town was part
of a land grant that goes back to 1939. A notable claim to fame for the town is
the famous novelist, John Steinbeck. Mr. Steinbeck wrote two of his most popular
books while residing in Monte Sereno. They were the "The Grapes of Wrath"
and "Of Mice and Men". |
