and 7 miles north of Gilroy. It is situated in a valley with the Santa Cruz Mountains
to the west and the Diablo Mountains to the east. The average elevation is 282
feet with the city encompassing over 5.5 square miles. The town is an unincorporated
area of Santa Clara County Real Estate Market. The community of San Martin
has no official web site and is part of the county of Santa Clara.

Brief
History
San Martin was founded
by the Spaniards in the 1790's as they explored Northern California The town is
located between two missions, Mission San Juan Batista and Mission San Jose and
on the famous El Camino Road that starts in San Diego and ends in the city of
San Francisco.
San Martin is famous
for the wines, mushrooms and garlic. Wineries are located throughout this area
as well as garlic and mushroom farms.
